Try a Little Tenderness

Dear Blues Congregation,

How are you doing? Are you taking care of yourself? Your mind, your body, your spirit? Mine have been in need of tenderness. Thankfully, there’s music. And Flea. His new jazz album, Honora, was released today. It’s such a tender, generous, loving offer. I’ve written about him before. This dude wears his heart front and center. It’s such a reminder. Love wins. If we let it. It’s the hardest work. It’s the bravest work. Please be brave.

I also finsihed the latest draft of my third novel, Franklin and the Fabulous 5ive, just as I saw this station wagon. It’s the same one Franklin and hs family take across the Chitlin’ Circuit in 1964. I took it as good omen this draft may be my last. The book publishes January, 2027.
